The 2026–2027 school year officially kicks off on Tuesday, August 4th, and we couldn't be happier to have our students back! Whether you’re returning or joining us for the very first time, you are an important part of our school family.

Georgia Law: No Cell Phone Policy for students, focusing on learning and success.

Distraction-Free Education Act

In accordance with Georgia Law, students will no longer be allowed to use cell phones at school. The new law is aimed at reducing distractions, improving student focus and mental well-being, and encouraging positive social interaction.

Under this policy, students in grades K–12 are prohibited from using cell phones, smartwatches, earbuds, or any other personal communication devices on school premises during the school day.

All devices must be powered off and stored out of sight—specifically inside a zipped or closed bag—from arrival on campus until dismissal. Keeping devices in pockets, shorts, or waistbands is not allowed.

Violations of these rules will result in progressive discipline as detailed in the student handbook.

Bus Routes


  1. Amber-flashing bus lights always indicate that the bus is preparing to stop.
  2. Amber means slow - caution - prepare to stop.
  3. Amber does not mean accelerate and pass the bus.
  4. Red flashing bus lights indicate children are in the road or preparing to be in the road.
  5. Red flashing lights - never pass the bus.

How We Communicate

Our district uses ParentSquare for school communication, primarily with email, text, and app notifications.

ParentSquare automatically syncs with our Student Information System (PowerSchool) to generate an account for each parent, using their preferred email address and phone number.

We encourage parents to update their contact information in PowerSchool, then download the Parent Square mobile app.

By participating in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) and eliminating the need for meal applications, Burke County Public Schools will reduce administrative and printing costs. Families also benefit from eliminating the need to complete and submit meal applications.

Children need healthy meals to learn. Burke County Public Schools offers healthy meals every school day at no charge to your child(ren). Our food service receives support from the U.S. Department of Agriculture through the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs.

The following schools will be participating in this alternative provision and provide meals at no charge to children:
Waynesboro Primary School, Blakeney Elementary School, SGA Elementary School, Burke County Middle School, Burke County Academy of Success, Burke County Life Center, Burke County High School, and Early Head Start.
