Hello and welcome!
My name is Danielle McKenzie, and I’m so excited about the year ahead! This is my 18th year teaching, and most of my experience has been in third grade. I’ll be teaching Math and Science this year, while my amazing teammate Mrs. Bowers will be leading ELA and Social Studies. We’re also lucky to have Mrs. Endres (or “Mrs. E” as we call her) supporting us as our classroom paraprofessional.
This year is extra special for my family — we welcomed our first child, a sweet baby boy named Hudson, in May. Because of his arrival, I’ll be on maternity leave until October 3rd. While I step away for a little while to care for him, your child will be in wonderful hands with Mrs. Monika Mobley, who will provide consistent, high-quality instruction in my absence. I have full confidence in her and the team, and I know the students will thrive!
A little about me — I grew up in Augusta and moved to Burke County in 2018 with my husband. We built our home here and have been joyfully growing our little family ever since! It all began with one BIG dog, then came four barn cats, four chickens, eventually 20 ducks and now our son, Hudson! I’ve always loved being surrounded by animals and children — both are curious, full of energy, and keep life wonderfully unpredictable. My passion for teaching started when I was a swim lessons instructor and summer swim coach. That experience sparked a calling that led me to earn my degree in Early Childhood Education from Augusta State University. Since then, I’ve continued to grow as an educator, adding endorsements in Gifted & Talented and English as a Second Language. But honestly, my greatest learning has come from my students — they continue to teach me every day.
I’m so grateful to be part of your child’s journey and can’t wait to return in October. Until then, they’ll be in great hands, and I look forward to a fabulous year together!
