I am privileged and honored to be serving as the new principal of Blakeney Elementary this year. After spending several years as an assistant principal at Burke County Middle School and Burke County High School, I am thrilled to continue working in this beautiful, welcoming community, helping Burke County's children to become the best they can be.
I grew up in Augusta and earned my bachelor's degree at Augusta State University, with a major in Marketing while on a baseball scholarship for the Jaguars. I received my master's degree in Special Education from ASU while working at the Academy of Richmond County and Greenbrier. I then came to teach History and coach football and baseball at Burke County High School. I went on to serve the community as Director of Testing and Instructional Technology after attaining an Education Specialist in Instructional Technology and one in Educational Leadership from UGA. I returned to BCHS as an assistant principal for three years before spending the last seven years at BCMS. Twenty years of work in education has left me with a passion for helping students succeed and most often excel, both in school and in the world beyond.
I know that every student is capable of achieving great things--but they don't need to do it on their own. By working together as a community--teachers, administration, and parents--, we can help our children grow and blossom into amazing young men and women. I look forward to working with all of you this year at Blakeney Elementary, where we are the BEST!
