Welcome

Greetings!

My name is Mrs. Shonea Wilson. I am a fifth grade Special Education Teacher at Blakeney Elementary School. I am a native of Ocilla, Irwin County, GA! This is my 14th year teaching, starting at Burke County Middle School in 2012 and transferring to Blakeney Elementary School in 2016. I obtained my Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree in Special Education from Valdosta State University in 2016. I teach Resource Reading and Math and I also Collaborate in ELA and Math during 2025-2026 school year. This year, grade level reading and math will be an important part of your child's educational experience. One philosophy I have for reading and math is emphasizing individual instructions, student-centered approach, and the belief that ALL students can learn and grow with appropriate supports. There will be opportunities for your child to practice some skills at home. I am looking forward to all of us working together to ensure your child succeeds in our class and beyond!

Mrs. Courtney Reese-Smith is on our team this year! This is her second year at BES and she will be working in the capacity as one of our Paraprofessionals. She will be working with our students to ensure they succeed this year as well!
