Welcome the Ms. Smith's Class Family

Greetings,

My name is Ieshea Smith, born and raised in Burke County, so I am no stranger to the community. I am so delighted to be your child’s 4th grade ELA & Social Studies teacher. I am looking forward to a successful, productive, and exciting learning filled environment this year. I have high expectations for your child and my student.  My roadmap includes helping your child achieve and reach each benchmark caboose by caboose.  We are in this together because your child’s learning matters to me.

Yes, I understand that not all children work at the same pace. Some children will get their work done in class and some will not. However, whether or not your child gets his or her work done in class has no effect on their grade. If your child does not complete an assignment in class, he or she will be required to complete it at home. Here’s how you can help: communicate with your child by asking if they have any outstanding assignments that were not completed in class? If so, please make sure that all work is completed at home and turned in the next day for full credit.  I will assign homework Monday thru Thursday.

In addition, I will be assigning projects throughout the school year. Projects are to be completed at home. Your help and support will not only make your child more successful in school this year, but will instill good study habits that will last a lifetime.

Finally, I would like to express that one of my most important goals this year is to keep the lines of communication open and transparent with you by sending home weekly newsletters via email. I am available Monday through Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. in the mornings and between 3:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. in the afternoons.
